Labor 101 Workshop

labor 101

Workers that belong to unions (or workplaces that are represented by a union) on average have 27% higher wages than nonunion workplaces. Sometimes it’s not just higher wages workers want, it’s better working conditions, more defined work leave, or benefits like healthcare?

However, with all of the benefits of being in a union, membership has seen a steady decline since the 1980s. In 2018, 11.6% of the American workforce and just 6.4% of private sector workers belonged to a union. Why?

We are proud to welcome a Mark Anderlik, a union organizer with more than 35 years of experience. The workshop will focus on answering commonly held questions like:

  • What are the benefits of a being in a union?
  • What can a union do for you?
  • What are the different types of unions?
  • I don’t work in a trade, what are my options?
  • …and many more.

Snacks and childcare will be provided.

Saturday, May 11
1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
325 N. 25th Ave.

(Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Building)
